Vintage Sterling Silver Wide Engraved Bangle – Chester 1959
Vintage Sterling Silver Wide Engraved Bangle – Chester 1959
£259.00
A beautiful vintage sterling silver bangle, fully hallmarked for Chester 1959 and bearing the maker’s mark S&E for Smith & Ewen.
Chester-assayed silver jewellery is particularly sought after by collectors, as the Chester Assay Office closed in 1962, making surviving pieces with its distinctive hallmark increasingly desirable.
This substantial bangle weighs an impressive 50.3 grams and measures approximately 28mm wide. The front is beautifully decorated with traditional hand engraved foliate and scrolling detail, creating a wonderfully ornate finish, while the reverse has been left plain and highly polished for an elegant contrast.
The bangle has a classic hinged construction and fastens securely with a tongue clasp, complemented by its original safety chain.
A wonderful example of mid-century British silver jewellery, combining substantial weight, beautiful craftsmanship and the added collectability of a Chester hallmark.
We have cleaned and polished this bangle with care. It remains in excellent vintage condition, ready to be worn and cherished once more.
