Vintage 9ct Gold Cameo Locket

A beautiful vintage 9ct yellow gold cameo locket, featuring an elegant classical lady in profile against a soft blue-grey background.
The oval cameo forms the centrepiece of the locket, beautifully complemented by the warm yellow gold surround and decorative shaped bale. Turn the locket over to reveal a particularly lovely ornately engraved floral and scrollwork design, adding another special detail to this charming vintage piece.
The locket opens smoothly to reveal two compartments for treasured photographs, making it a wonderfully sentimental piece of jewellery as well as an attractive pendant.
It is hallmarked in Birmingham and carries the maker’s mark WIP. Unfortunately, the date letter is no longer clear enough to read with confidence. From its design and construction, we believe the locket likely dates from around the 1960s–1970s, although we cannot confirm an exact year.
The locket opens and closes perfectly and has been cleaned and polished with care. It is presented in excellent vintage condition, ready to hold two precious photographs and be loved and cherished once again.
