Victorian 18ct Gold MIZPAH Band Ring – London 1886
Antique Victorian 18ct Yellow Gold MIZPAH Ring – London 1886
£998.00
A beautiful and exceptionally well-preserved Victorian MIZPAH ring, crafted in rich 18ct yellow gold and fully hallmarked for London 1886.
The wide band features the word “MIZPAH” prominently applied across the front in bold raised lettering, framed by finely detailed decorative milled borders along the upper and lower edges. The remainder of the band is elegantly plain, allowing the distinctive MIZPAH inscription to take centre stage.
MIZPAH jewellery became particularly popular during the Victorian era. The word originates from the biblical Book of Genesis and became associated with the sentiment “May the Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent one from another.” Victorian MIZPAH jewellery was therefore traditionally exchanged between loved ones as a symbol of love, protection and remembrance during times of separation.
Dating to 1886, this is a particularly lovely original example, retaining crisp detailing. The interior carries a clear set of London hallmarks together with the maker’s mark .W.W.
Professionally cleaned in our workshop, this antique ring is presented in pristine condition. It is ready to be worn, collected and cherished once again.
