Vintage John Hart Sterling Silver Luckenbooth Brooch – Edinburgh 1975

£129.00

A beautifully crafted piece of Scottish heritage, this vintage sterling silver Luckenbooth brooch was made in the mid-1970s by renowned silversmith John Hart of Iona. Exquisitely detailed and rich with symbolism, it is a wonderful example of traditional Scottish jewellery.
A Symbol of Love & Loyalty, the Luckenbooth is one of Scotland’s most romantic emblems, dating back to the 16th century. Traditionally given as a token of betrothal, affection, and deep friendship, the design features a crowned heart—or in this case, entwined hearts beneath a royal crown—representing enduring love and steadfast loyalty.
Its name originates from the “locking booths” or small jewellery stalls that once lined Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.
This brooch has been carefully cleaned and professionally polished, restoring its beautiful silver sheen and highlighting the intricate patterns John Hart was celebrated for.
