Why choose a silver ring?
Silver rings are a great way to wear real jewellery every day without the higher price of gold or platinum. Sterling silver suits most skin tones and works with both casual and smarter outfits, so you can put a ring on in the morning and forget about it. It’s also a good metal to choose if you’re trying out a new style or shape before investing in something similar in gold later on.
Silver rings for stacking, mixing and trying new styles
Because silver rings are more affordable, they’re ideal for stacking and experimenting. You can combine slim bands, textured rings and chunkier signets across several fingers, or mix silver with gold if you like a more relaxed, thrown-together look. Many of the rings in this category work well in pairs or groups, and the photos should give you a feel for which ones are best layered and which are better worn solo.
Vintage, antique and pre-owned silver rings
Alongside newer designs you’ll find vintage and antique silver rings, as well as pre-owned pieces from well-known high street and designer jewellers. Older silver rings often have engraving, marcasite or other details you don’t see as much on modern pieces. As with our other pre-owned jewellery, most of these rings are one-offs, so if you see a silver ring that feels right, it’s unlikely we’ll have another exactly the same.
Tarnish, polishing and looking after silver rings
Silver can tarnish naturally over time, especially if it’s not worn often, but it usually cleans up well. A soft polishing cloth or a gentle silver-cleaning solution is normally enough to bring the shine back, and wearing your rings regularly can actually help slow down tarnish. As with any jewellery, we recommend taking silver rings off for heavy DIY, strong chemicals and the gym, and storing them separately so they don’t rub against other pieces.
