Elis Kauppi (1921–2004) was a pioneering Finnish jewellery designer. He played a crucial role in establishing Finland as a centre for innovative and high-quality jewellery craftsmanship in the mid-20th century. Kauppi was a key figure in the Finnish modernist jewellery movement, favouring clean lines, organic forms, and abstract designs. Kauppi’s jewellery is characterized by its simplicity, elegance, and focus on craftsmanship. His pieces are now highly collectible and regarded as classics of Scandinavian modernist design. He founded Kalevala Koru and later Kupittaan Kulta (in 1945), the renowned Finnish jewellery company based in Turku.
